The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket features twin earth terminals behind an antique brass square edge faceplate with black insert. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances rated up to 3,120W per outlet.

Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw-fixed installation on a metal mounting frame. The square edge design sits flat to the wall surface with a built-in gasket that simplifies positioning during installation and provides a defined edge against painted or wallpapered surfaces.

The antique brass finish shows a warm, aged patina that pairs with traditional, classical and heritage interiors where polished finishes would appear too modern. The black insert behind the brass faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture and rocker switch. Twin earth terminals are required in installations where high-integrity earthing is specified, such as medical rooms, commercial kitchens or installations with sensitive electronic equipment.

What are twin earth terminals and when are they required?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earth connections instead of the standard single terminal. They are specified in high-integrity earthing installations such as medical rooms, commercial kitchens, or installations with sensitive electronic equipment where a redundant earth path is required. For standard domestic installations a single earth terminal is sufficient.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The square edge faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is this socket suitable for outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means the socket is designed for dry indoor locations only. For outdoor or bathroom installations where moisture is present, a socket with IP44 or higher is required.
