Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX fan isolator switch provides triple-pole switching for bathroom and utility room extractor fans, housed behind an 87.5mm square gunmetal flat plate. The triple-pole configuration allows the fan circuit to be isolated independently without affecting the lighting circuit, which is required under UK wiring regulations for en-suite and bathroom installations where the fan is wired through the light switch.
Designed for residential bathrooms, utility rooms and commercial washrooms, the switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted. The flat plate sits flush with plaster, giving a cleaner finish than traditional raised-edge plates. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W at 230V, covering typical domestic and light commercial extractor fan motors.
The gunmetal finish is a dark grey steel with a satin surface that resists fingerprints and pairs with both monochrome and warm-toned bathroom schemes. The matching metal rocker maintains the same gunmetal tone across the entire faceplate. The switch carries an IP20 rating, suitable for general room areas outside the immediate shower or bath zones, and is certified to EN 60669-1 and EN 60669-2-4 safety standards.

Frequently Asked
What is a triple-pole fan isolator and why is it required?
A triple-pole isolator switches live, neutral and the fan's switched-live independently, allowing the extractor fan to be isolated without affecting the main lighting circuit. UK wiring regulations require this where the fan is wired through the bathroom light switch, so maintenance can be carried out safely.
Can this be used in a shower room or directly above a bath?
No. The IP20 rating means this switch is suitable for general bathroom areas outside the immediate shower, bath or sink zones. It must be positioned at least 600mm horizontally from the edge of a bath or shower enclosure.
What back box depth is needed?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is required. The 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted makes this one of the slimmest switches in the Knightsbridge range.
What other finishes are available in this flat plate range?
Knightsbridge produces this ultra-flat style in polished chrome, brushed chrome, black nickel, brushed brass and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
