Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch provides dual switching control behind a pearl-finish flat plate with matching metal rockers. The 2-way configuration allows the same light or circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions, making it suitable for rooms with multiple entry points such as hallways, staircases and through-lounges.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, making it one of the lowest-profile switch designs available. The flat plate sits flush with the wall surface rather than proud of it, giving a minimal visual presence compared to traditional raised-edge plates. The rockers are cut from the same pearl-finish steel as the main plate, so there is no colour break between the switch mechanism and the faceplate.

The pearl finish is a soft metallic grey-white tone that sits between polished chrome and brushed stainless, pairing comfortably with both warm and cool colour schemes. The steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and an integrated gasket behind the plate provides IP20 moisture resistance, suitable for dry indoor locations. The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W at 230V, which covers most domestic lighting circuits including LED, halogen and incandescent.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way switching mean?

A 2-way switch allows the same light or circuit to be controlled from two different switch positions. This is typically used in hallways, staircases and bedrooms where you need to turn a light on at one end of the room and off at the other. Two 2-way switches are required to create a 2-way switching system.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for installation. The 2.5mm projection of the flat plate means the total depth from the wall surface is 18.5mm once fitted.

What load can a 10AX switch handle?

The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W at 230V. This covers most domestic lighting circuits including LED arrays, halogen downlights and incandescent fittings. For inductive loads such as fluorescent tubes or motors, the rating is lower — consult the specification sheet.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces the Flat Plate range in a variety of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, matt black, white, brushed brass and antique brass. Use the search or filter functions to find other finishes in stock at Niori.
