The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang at 230V, making it suitable for standard lighting circuits and some resistive heating applications where higher switching capacity is needed beyond typical 6A switches.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where the switch needs to control lights from two positions—such as opposite ends of a hallway, top and bottom of a staircase, or either side of a large room—the 2-way configuration allows either rocker to toggle the circuit regardless of the other's position. The flat plate design sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall once fitted, creating a minimal profile that works in both contemporary and industrial-style interiors.

The gunmetal finish is a dark grey-bronze tone with a subtle metallic sheen, sitting between graphite and bronze in appearance. The premium-grade steel construction includes a built-in gasket for additional moisture resistance at the wall junction, though the IP20 rating means this is not suitable for bathroom zones or outdoor use. What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows you to control a single lighting circuit from two separate switch positions. Both switches can turn the lights on or off regardless of the other switch's position. This is typically used at opposite ends of hallways, top and bottom of stairs, or either side of large rooms.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm back box depth is required for installation. The ultra-flat design means the switch projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth requirement of approximately 18.5mm from the back of the box to the front of the rockers.

What's the difference between 10AX and standard 10A switches?

The 10AX rating handles inductive loads (such as transformers and motors) that create inrush current when switched. A 10AX switch can handle up to 2,300W on standard resistive loads like LED or halogen lighting, making it suitable for circuits controlling multiple light fittings or higher-wattage applications.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means this switch is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for bathroom zones where moisture protection is required. For bathroom installation, use an IP-rated pull cord switch or position the switch outside the bathroom zones as per BS 7671 wiring regulations.
