Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch controls two independent lighting circuits from multiple locations, with each rocker rated at 10 amps (2,300W on 230V mains). The screwless faceplate in black nickel finish clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixing screws once installed. Both rockers are metal-finished to match the plate rather than white plastic, giving a unified appearance across the entire switch.

Designed for hallways, staircases and rooms with two entry points, the 2-way configuration allows lights to be controlled from either end of a corridor or at the top and bottom of stairs. The 10AX rating handles standard domestic lighting loads including LED, halogen and incandescent circuits. The switch fits a standard single-gang back box with a minimum 16mm depth and projects just 4.3mm from the wall once the screwless plate is clipped on.

The black nickel finish sits darker than polished chrome or brushed steel, presenting as a deep gunmetal grey with subtle warmth. The premium-grade steel construction includes a built-in gasket behind the faceplate, providing IP20 ingress protection and adding a degree of moisture resistance suitable for most residential interiors. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries a 25-year warranty.

A 2-way switch can be wired to control the same light from two different locations, such as at either end of a hallway or at the top and bottom of stairs. This is a 2-gang 2-way switch, so it controls two separate lighting circuits, each switchable from two locations.

What's the difference between 10A and 10AX?

10AX indicates the switch is rated for 10 amps and is suitable for both resistive loads (incandescent, halogen) and inductive loads (fluorescent, LED drivers with transformers). Standard 10A switches are rated for resistive loads only. The AX rating makes this switch compatible with modern LED lighting circuits.

How does the screwless plate attach?

The visible faceplate clips onto a metal sub-frame that is screw-fixed to the back box. Once the sub-frame is wired and secured, the decorative plate clips on from the front without tools, hiding all screws and fixings.
