Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang intermediate toggle switch is designed for three-way lighting control, allowing a single light or group of lights to be switched from three or more locations. The switch fits between two 2-way switches to complete a multi-point circuit, making it essential for staircases, long hallways and rooms with multiple entry points where lighting needs to be controlled from more than two positions.
The black nickel faceplate is made from 201 stainless steel with a screwless design that clips onto a separate mounting frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The ultra-flat profile projects just 22.7mm from the wall, making it suitable for narrow alcoves and tight spaces where deeper switch plates would interfere with furniture or door swings. The plate depth itself is 4.3mm, giving a low-profile finish on the wall surface.
Rated at 10AX on 230V mains, the switch handles circuits up to 2,300W, which is sufficient for domestic lighting loads including LED, halogen and incandescent circuits. The black nickel finish provides a dark metallic tone that pairs with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. An integrated gasket between the faceplate and mounting frame provides additional dust resistance, though the IP20 rating means the switch is for dry indoor use only.

Frequently Asked
What is an intermediate switch used for?
An intermediate switch allows a light to be controlled from three or more locations. It must be wired between two 2-way switches to complete the circuit. Common installations include staircases with switches at ground, mid-landing and first floor, or long hallways with switches at both ends and in the middle.
What back box depth is required?
The minimum mounting box depth is 16mm. The switch fits standard 25mm and 35mm single-gang back boxes with plenty of clearance for cable runs.
Is the screwless plate removable?
Yes. The black nickel faceplate clips onto a separate metal mounting frame fixed to the back box. The plate can be removed for decorating and re-clipped without re-wiring the switch.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this ultra-flat screwless intermediate switch in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
