Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang double-pole switch is a single-gang rocker switch in an anthracite screwless faceplate, rated at 10AX for switching circuits up to 2,300W at 230V. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the rocker is in the off position, providing additional safety for high-draw circuits or circuits where full isolation is required between uses.
Designed for controlling lighting circuits, bathroom extractor fans with boost functions, or other switched loads where double-pole isolation is beneficial, the switch fits a standard 16mm minimum back box depth. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, so there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The anthracite finish is a dark grey metallic powder-coat over premium-grade steel, giving a low-sheen surface that pairs well with industrial, minimalist and contemporary interiors.
The 87.5mm square plate projects 4.3mm from the wall once fitted, making it one of the slimmer profiles in the Knightsbridge screwless range. The built-in gasket behind the faceplate reduces dust ingress and the IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry indoor environments. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries a 25-year warranty, reflecting the build quality and expected service life of the premium steel construction.

Frequently Asked
What is the difference between double-pole and single-pole switching?
Double-pole switches isolate both the live and neutral lines when turned off, whereas single-pole switches only isolate the live. Double-pole switching provides fuller isolation and is often used for bathroom extractor fans, immersion heaters, or circuits where complete isolation between uses is preferred.
What back box depth is required?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, making the total depth 20.3mm from the wall surface to the front of the rocker.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The anthracite cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this switch style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
