Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way toggle switch features a single dolly-style toggle rocker behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. The 10AX rating handles lighting circuits up to 2,300W on 230V mains, making it suitable for single or multi-bulb ceiling lights, wall lights and standard domestic lighting loads. The 2-way configuration allows the same light to be controlled from two different switch positions, typically used in rooms with two entrances or at opposite ends of a hallway.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the switch fits a standard 25mm back box and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This removes all visible screws from the wall-facing surface, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 87.5mm square faceplate sits nearly flush with the wall, projecting just 4.3mm from the surface once fitted. The integral gasket behind the plate provides IP20 protection against dust ingress.

The brushed chrome finish is a directional satin surface over premium-grade steel, showing fine horizontal grain lines that soften reflections under daylight. The finish pairs well with brushed stainless steel appliances, chrome taps and contemporary interiors where a cooler metallic tone is preferred over brass or copper. The toggle mechanism provides a tactile click on switching and the plate construction carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

What does 2-way mean?

A 2-way switch allows the same light to be controlled from two different switch positions. This is the standard wiring for rooms with two entrances (through lounges, hallways) or where a light needs switching from both ends of a space. If you only need a single switch controlling a single light, you need a 1-way switch instead.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm mounting box depth is required. The switch will fit standard 25mm and 35mm back boxes used in most UK installations.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
