Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch controls a single lighting circuit from two separate locations, fitted behind a white square edge plate made from thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on a 230V circuit, suitable for most domestic and commercial lighting applications including LED, halogen and incandescent bulbs.

Designed for residential, commercial and healthcare installation, the switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and uses a traditional screw-fixed faceplate with screw cap covers included to hide the fixing points once installed. The 2-way switching configuration allows a single light or group of lights to be controlled from two different wall positions, commonly used for stairways, long hallways and rooms with multiple entry points.

A 2-way switch allows a single light or group of lights to be controlled from two separate wall positions. This requires two 2-way switches wired together with 3-core-and-earth cable, commonly used on stairs, long hallways and rooms with multiple doors.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The switch plate adds 9mm of projection from the wall once the screw cap covers are fitted.

What does the anti-microbial property do?

The thermoset resin contains an additive that inhibits bacterial growth on the plate surface, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This feature reduces surface bacteria in environments where hygiene is prioritised, such as kitchens, bathrooms, care facilities and clinical spaces.

Is this switch dimmable?

No. This is a standard on-off rocker switch rated at 10AX for mains lighting circuits. For dimming control, a separate dimmer module or dimmer switch would be required.
