Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch features a matt white screwless cover plate with a matching metal rocker. The 10AX rating handles lighting circuits up to 2,300W on 230V mains, making it suitable for domestic and light commercial installations. The 2-way switching configuration allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations, typical of staircases, hallways and rooms with multiple entry points.
The screwless design uses a clip-on cover plate that fits over a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. This means no visible screws on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 4.3mm projection from the wall keeps the switch low-profile, and the built-in gasket provides a secure mount to the back box. The switch requires a minimum 16mm mounting box depth, shallower than the 25mm boxes needed for socket outlets.
The matt white finish is a soft, non-reflective off-white that works across both contemporary and traditional interiors. The premium-grade steel construction provides rigidity and longevity, and the switch is certified to EN 60669-1 with an IP20 rating for indoor use. Knightsbridge backs the switch with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between 1-way and 2-way switching?
A 2-way switch allows the same light to be controlled from two separate switch locations, such as both ends of a hallway or top and bottom of a staircase. A 1-way switch controls the light from a single location only. This is a 2-way switch, so it's suitable for dual-control lighting circuits.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm mounting box depth is needed. The 4.3mm projection from the wall means the total depth from the back of the box to the front of the rocker is approximately 20mm once installed.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The matt white cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this screwless switch style in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
