Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch features a gunmetal flat plate finish over premium-grade steel construction. The ultra-low profile design projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, creating a flush appearance that sits almost level with the plasterwork. The matching gunmetal rocker sits within the plate aperture, giving a monochrome finish with no contrasting insert colour.

Designed for two-way lighting control where a single circuit is switched from two separate positions, such as staircases, long hallways, or rooms with multiple entry points. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on a 230V circuit, covering most residential and light commercial installations. The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth, making it compatible with shallow pattress boxes used in dot-and-dab or stud partition walls.

The gunmetal finish is a dark grey-brown metallic tone that pairs with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors. The flat plate design uses visible fixing screws rather than a screwless cover, keeping the cost lower than screwless equivalents while maintaining a clean geometric profile. What is two-way switching?

Two-way switching allows a single lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions, typically at opposite ends of a hallway or at the top and bottom of a staircase. This requires two 2-way switches wired in parallel. For switching from three or more positions, you would need intermediate switches between the two 2-way switches.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. This shallow depth makes the switch suitable for dot-and-dab plasterboard walls, stud partitions, and renovation projects where deeper back boxes cannot be chased into masonry.

Is this a screwless plate?

No. The flat plate design uses visible fixing screws to secure the faceplate to the back box. This differs from Knightsbridge's screwless ranges where a cover plate clips onto a separate sub-frame. The screw-fixed design is simpler to install and typically lower cost.
