Description

The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator switch module is a grid-compatible triple-pole switch for controlling extractor fans in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms. The module fits into Knightsbridge's Curved Grid System, which allows multiple switches, sockets and modules to be grouped into a single faceplate. The white UREA finish coordinates with the Curved Edge range of switches and sockets.

Triple-pole switching isolates live, neutral and earth simultaneously when the switch is in the off position, providing complete electrical isolation for safe fan maintenance or replacement. The module is rated at 10A on 230V 50Hz supply and carries a conditional short-circuit current rating of 1500A, meeting Building Regulations requirements for bathroom and kitchen fan installation. The IP20 rating suits dry internal environments.

The module measures 25mm wide by 55mm long, occupying a single grid space within the Curved Grid System frame. Installation requires a minimum 35mm back box depth. The thermoset resin and polycarbonate construction includes anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on high-contact surfaces. Knightsbridge backs the module with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What is the Curved Grid System?

The Curved Grid System is Knightsbridge's modular wiring accessory range that allows multiple switches, sockets and modules to be combined into a single multi-gang faceplate. This fan isolator module occupies one grid space within that system.

What does triple-pole switching mean?

Triple-pole switching isolates live, neutral and earth lines simultaneously when the switch is off, providing complete electrical disconnection. This is required by Building Regulations for fan isolators in some bathroom and kitchen installations.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes, provided it is installed outside the bathroom zones defined in BS 7671 (typically outside Zone 2, at least 600mm from a bath or shower). The IP20 rating means it is not splash-proof and must not be installed within reach of water.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is required to accommodate the module and grid frame. Standard UK 35mm or 47mm metal back boxes are suitable.
