Description

The Knightsbridge fan isolator switch is a 10A switch for fully isolating an extractor fan for safe maintenance, in a textured sand black metalclad finish.

It gives a local means of fully isolating an extractor fan for safe cleaning and maintenance, breaking all poles including the switched-live timer feed, and is fitted with a neon where stated.

It is constructed from pressed steel, with an earth terminal for a compliant installation. It is certified to BS EN 60669-1 and IP20 rated for indoor use.

A fan isolator switch provides a local means of fully isolating an extractor fan from the supply for safe cleaning or maintenance, breaking all poles including the switched-live timer feed.

Does a bathroom extractor fan need an isolator switch?

It is standard good practice (and often required by the fan manufacturer) to fit a means of isolation such as a triple-pole fan isolator so the fan can be fully isolated for servicing. Installation should be carried out by a competent person in accordance with BS 7671.

Where should a fan isolator switch be located?

It is usually fitted outside the bathroom or on the ceiling/wall near the fan, positioned so it cannot be reached from the bath or shower, in line with the bathroom zones in BS 7671.
