Description
The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator module is a single-width grid component that provides triple-pole switching for extractor fans and ventilation units. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames from the front, allowing installation without removing the frame from the wall. The matt black rocker switch sits in a white ABS surround, with "FAN isolator" and OFF/ON markings moulded into the switch face.
Designed for bathroom extractor fans, utility room ventilation and kitchen extraction where a dedicated isolation switch is required by building regulations, the module fits standard 25mm minimum back boxes when paired with a compatible grid frame. The triple-pole mechanism isolates live, neutral and the switched live feed to the fan, providing complete electrical isolation when in the OFF position. The 10A rating handles standard domestic extractor fans drawing up to 2,300W.
The module measures 25mm wide (single grid width), 56.3mm tall and projects 7mm from the front of the frame once clipped in. The matt black finish on the rocker contrasts with the white surround, making the switch position visually clear from across a room. The ABS and steel construction carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor locations and a 1500A conditional short circuit current rating for fault protection.

Frequently Asked
What grid frame does this module fit?
The module is designed for Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, sold separately. It clips into position from the front of a single-width (25mm) aperture in the frame, which then mounts to a standard 25mm back box.
What does triple-pole switching mean?
Triple-pole isolates live, neutral and the switched live feed to the fan. This provides complete electrical isolation when the switch is in the OFF position, meeting building regulation requirements for fan isolation in bathrooms and kitchens.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The module is IP20 rated, suitable for dry indoor locations. In bathrooms it must be installed outside zones 0, 1 and 2 (typically outside the room or in a zone 3 position at least 2.4m from the bath or shower). Consult Part P Building Regulations and BS 7671 for exact placement rules.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces grid modules in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, white and black. Use the site search or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
