Description

The Knightsbridge 1-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a white thermoset resin faceplate with rounded edges. The plate measures 86mm square with a 7mm projection from the wall once fitted, providing a low-profile finish that sits flush with adjacent switches and sockets in the same range.

Designed for residential, commercial and healthcare installation, the blanking plate incorporates anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial colonisation on the surface. This makes the plate particularly suited to hospitals, care homes, schools and food preparation areas where surface hygiene standards are regulated. The plate fits standard UK single-gang back boxes and includes screw cap covers that hide fixings for a clean appearance.

The white finish pairs with standard white switches and sockets across most manufacturers' ranges, allowing blanking plates to be added to existing installations without visual mismatch. The thermoset resin construction provides impact resistance and dimensional stability superior to thermoplastic alternatives, with the material rated to maintain its finish and structural integrity over the 25-year warranty period. The rounded edge profile softens the visual transition between plate and wall compared to sharp-edged alternatives.

Frequently Asked

When would I need a blanking plate?

Blanking plates cover electrical back boxes that are no longer in use, typically after re-wiring or room reconfigurations where a socket or switch has been removed or relocated. They provide a safe, finished appearance and prevent dust or debris entering the back box.

What does the anti-microbial property do?

The thermoset resin incorporates additives that inhibit bacterial growth on the plate surface, tested to ISO 22196:2011 standards. This reduces surface contamination in environments where hygiene is regulated, such as hospitals, care facilities and commercial kitchens.

Will this match my existing white switches?

The white finish is designed to coordinate with standard white electrical accessories across most manufacturers. Slight tonal variation may occur between different brands or age of installation, but the difference is typically minimal in practice.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for dry indoor environments only. It should not be installed within bathroom zones requiring IP44 or higher protection from water ingress.
