Description

The Knightsbridge 1 gang blanking plate covers unused electrical back boxes behind a polished chrome flat plate measuring 87.5mm square with a 2.5mm projection from the wall. The plate is stamped from premium-grade steel and finished in a mirror-polished chrome that reflects light and creates visual continuity with chrome switches and sockets in the same room.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where cable runs have been chased into walls but outlets are not needed, the blanking plate conceals the back box opening and prevents dust ingress. The built-in gasket sits between the plate and the wall surface, creating a flush finish without needing separate washers or spacers. The plate fixes to the back box lugs with two screws (visible once fitted), making removal straightforward when rewiring or redecorating.

The IP20 rating confirms the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations. The earth terminal allows the metal faceplate to be connected to protective earth, meeting Class I earthing requirements. The plate fits standard UK single-gang 35mm or 25mm deep back boxes with fixing lugs spaced at 60.3mm centres. The fixing screws go directly into the back box lugs.

Is the plate screwless or screw-fixed?

This is a screw-fixed plate. Two fixing screws are visible once the plate is installed. Knightsbridge also produces screwless variants in this finish if a no-visible-screw finish is needed.

Does it need to be earthed?

Yes. The plate includes an earth terminal and is Class I, so the metal faceplate must be connected to protective earth during installation to meet safety requirements.

Can it be used in bathrooms?
