Description

The Knightsbridge 1-gang blanking plate seals off unused or redundant wall boxes behind a screwless antique brass cover. The plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, concealing all fixings and leaving only the finished metal faceplate visible on the wall. A built-in gasket sits between the cover and the sub-frame, creating a seal that meets IP20 rating for indoor dry locations.

Designed for finishing off electrical installations where a socket or switch has been removed, or where a back box was installed but never populated, the blanking plate provides a cleaner alternative to leaving an open box or using makeshift coverings. The screwless design matches other plates in the Knightsbridge Screwless Flat Plate range, allowing consistent finish across an installation.

The antique brass finish is a warm bronze-brown tone with subtle darkening at the edges, created through a PVD (physical vapour deposition) process on 201 stainless steel. The metal construction gives the plate rigidity and durability, while the low 4.3mm projection from the wall keeps the profile minimal. The plate includes an earth terminal on the sub-frame for safe installation in metal back boxes.

Frequently Asked

What back box does it fit?

The blanking plate fits standard single-gang 25mm depth metal or plastic back boxes. The screwless cover clips onto a metal sub-frame that fixes to the back box with two screws, then the cover plate clips over the sub-frame to conceal the fixings.

Is it removable for future use of the back box?

Yes. The cover plate clips off the sub-frame without needing to disconnect any wiring, allowing the back box to be repurposed for a socket or switch later. The sub-frame stays fixed to the back box.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this screwless blanking plate in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black, white and other finishes. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.

Does the antique brass finish tarnish or darken over time?

The PVD-applied antique brass finish on stainless steel is stable and resists tarnishing. The darker edges are part of the factory finish, not the result of ageing. Normal handling and cleaning will not accelerate colour change.
