Description

The Knightsbridge NETTS1WH is a 50 x 50mm touchless switch module that operates via gesture sensor control, detecting hand movement within 3cm of the front face to switch lighting on or off without physical contact. The module fits standard euro module mounting boxes with a minimum depth of 47mm and requires a neutral wire connection for operation.

Designed for hygiene-sensitive environments such as healthcare facilities, commercial kitchens, public washrooms and residential bathrooms, the touchless operation reduces surface contact and makes switching accessible to users with limited hand mobility. The sensor responds to hand proximity rather than requiring a specific gesture, so switching action is straightforward and does not require learning a particular movement pattern.

The white polycarbonate construction carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry indoor environments but not for direct water exposure or outdoor installation. The 49.5 x 49.5mm front plate sits flush with euro module faceplates when installed in multi-gang frames, allowing touchless and conventional switches to be combined in the same wall plate. The Class II double-insulated construction operates on standard 230V 50Hz mains without requiring an earth connection.

How does the touchless sensor work?

The module uses a proximity sensor that detects hand movement within 3cm of the front face. Move your hand near the sensor to toggle the light on or off without touching the surface. The sensor responds to presence rather than requiring a specific gesture pattern.

Does this require a neutral wire?

Yes. The touchless sensor electronics require a neutral connection in addition to the live and switched live connections. Standard UK lighting circuits installed before 2004 may not have neutral at the switch location and would require rewiring to use this module.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating makes this suitable for Zone 3 bathroom areas (more than 60cm from water sources) but not for direct water exposure. It cannot be installed in shower enclosures, directly above baths, or in outdoor locations.

What mounting box is needed?

The module fits standard 50 x 50mm euro module mounting boxes with a minimum internal depth of 47mm. It can be installed in single-gang or multi-gang euro module faceplates alongside other 50mm modules.
