Description
The Knightsbridge 1-gang 1-way touchless switch module fits 50 x 50mm euro module plates and uses a gesture sensor to activate lighting or appliances without physical contact. A hand movement within 3cm of the sensor surface triggers the switching action, allowing the module to be operated without touching the faceplate.
Designed for domestic bathrooms, kitchens, hospitals, care homes, commercial washrooms and food-preparation areas where minimising surface contact reduces the spread of bacteria and viruses. The module requires a neutral connection at the back box and fits mounting boxes with a minimum 47mm depth. The grey polycarbonate construction carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry indoor locations.
The 49.5mm square module sits flush within euro module plates from Knightsbridge's modular wiring accessory range, allowing it to be combined with other modules (sockets, switches, USB ports) in multi-gang configurations. The sensor operates on 230V 50Hz mains and the polycarbonate body is Class II double-insulated, meaning it does not require an earth connection.

Frequently Asked
Does it require a neutral connection?
Yes. The touchless sensor requires a neutral wire at the back box to power the gesture detection circuit. Standard 1-way switches do not require neutral, so this may need additional wiring if retrofitting into older installations.
What euro module plates is it compatible with?
The module fits any 50 x 50mm euro module plate. Knightsbridge produces euro module plates in various gang configurations and finishes that accept this module alongside other euro modules such as USB sockets, blank plates and additional switches.
What is the sensor activation range?
The sensor detects hand movement within 3cm of the faceplate surface. This short range prevents accidental activation from passing movement and ensures the switch only triggers when deliberately approached.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means the module is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It should not be installed within zones 0, 1 or 2 of a bathroom where direct water contact or high humidity is present. It is acceptable in zone 3 (outside the immediate bath/shower area) where splashing is unlikely.
