Painterly rather than graphic
Most patterned textile works by repeating a shape. Voyage Maison works more like a painting: a hare, a stag, a spray of foliage rendered with brushwork visible in the print, placed on the cloth rather than tiled across it. On a cushion that means the design has a subject rather than a texture.
It is a different job from a Morris repeat and it suits a different position in a room. One painterly cushion among plain ones carries a whole sofa; four of them compete with each other.
The palette
Soft and tonal, built on greys, sage, oatmeal, dusty blues and muted berry. The colours are chosen to sit against neutral upholstery rather than to stand apart from it, which is why the range works as an accent in an otherwise plain room.
Because the palette is narrow, pieces across different designs coordinate more easily than the illustrations would suggest. A stag cushion and a botanical throw share a colour family even where they share nothing else.
What we stock
Cushions are the core of the range, in cover-only and filled forms and in several square sizes. Throws carry the same illustrations at a scale that suits the end of a bed or the arm of a sofa. Bedding, outdoor cushions and wallpaper extend it further into a room.
Where a cushion is offered filled, the filling is stated on the product page: polyester holds its shape and springs back, feather is softer and moulds, and the two feel quite different in use.
Care
Cushion covers and throws are generally machine washable at 40 degrees, though velvet and faux fur pieces have their own instructions and the product page carries them. Do not iron a pile fabric: direct heat flattens and glazes the fibres permanently and the shine does not brush out.
For a filled cushion, plump it by hand rather than washing it whenever possible, and air it rather than tumbling it. The filling is what wears first, and heat is what wears it.
