Description

We stock the Zon as a trimless recessed downlight housing in white, the enclosure that sits inside the ceiling and holds a compatible recessed light module (sold separately). It is the metal frame you fit first, and once the plaster is skimmed flush with its rim only a clean aperture is left in the ceiling, with no visible bezel or ring below.

We reach for a trimless housing like this in plasterboard and false ceilings where the look is meant to be as plain as possible, so it suits contemporary and minimalist rooms in new-build homes, refurbishments and commercial fit-outs. It needs an accessible void behind the ceiling to sit in, and its perforated metal flanges lock into that void and spread the load across the board so the housing cannot drop through once it is set in place.

The white metal finish reduces contrast when the fitting is viewed through the aperture from below, helping it blend into white or light-coloured ceilings. It carries an IP20 rating, so we would keep it to dry interior spaces away from direct water rather than a shower zone or the outdoors. It is not dimmable in itself, and as a housing it is sold as a component, so you pair it with the recessed light module you want to run inside it.

Frequently Asked

What does this housing include?

You get the trimless recessed housing on its own. It is the metal enclosure that plasters into the ceiling, and it needs a separate compatible recessed light module (sold separately) to actually give light.

How does the trimless look work?

The housing is fitted into the ceiling void and the plaster is skimmed flush with its rim, so no bezel or trim ring shows below. From the room you see only the light aperture set into the ceiling.

Can I use it in a bathroom or outside?

We would keep it to dry interior rooms. It is rated IP20, which gives no protection against water, so it is not suitable for a shower area, above a bath or any outdoor spot.

Is it dimmable?

The housing itself has no electronics to dim; it simply holds the light module. Whether you can dim the fitting depends on the separate recessed module you install inside it.
