Description

An armchair 78cm wide, 91.4cm deep and 89cm to the top of the back, upholstered in a woven jute and cotton left in its natural tone. The arms are low and rolled and sit well forward of the back, and the back and the sides run as one continuous stretch of the weave. Down the centre of the back and across the front of the seat runs a band of rust coloured chevrons, each motif a stack of arrowheads between two fine lines, printed on by hand. It stands on turned mango wood legs.

The seat sits at 44cm and measures 59cm wide by 56cm deep, and the chair will carry up to 125kg. At 78cm across and 91.4cm from front to back it takes more floor than most armchairs, so it wants a corner or the open side of a room rather than a narrow gap.

The upholstery is jute and cotton and the frame is mango wood. The chevron band is block printed, each motif pressed on by hand, so the spacing wanders slightly along the run and no two chairs carry the same line. Apart from that band the yarns are undyed, so the ground is the natural colour of the fibre. The Zairya range also holds a tall pouffe, cushion covers and rugs in the same weave.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

78cm wide, 91.4cm deep and 89cm to the top of the back.

How high is the seat?

44cm, and the seat measures 59cm wide by 56cm deep.

How much weight will it take?

125kg.

What is the pattern?

A band of rust coloured chevrons, block printed by hand down the centre of the back and across the front of the seat.

How do I look after it?

Vacuum or brush the surface regularly to lift dust, and never use a rotating vacuum head, which damages the fibres. Spot clean small spills only: lift the liquid with an absorbent tissue, blot with a sponge or a folded towel wrung out in lukewarm water, then dry the patch with warm air from a hairdryer so it does not mark. Larger stains should go to a professional. Keep it out of direct sunlight, which fades natural dyes and yarns.
