Description

The Zairya is a square cushion cover, 50cm on each side, handwoven from jute and cotton on a traditional loom. The pattern is woven in. A band of rust chevrons crosses the middle of the face, edged above and below by a row of grey green sawtooth points, and the rest is a close ribbed ground of jute worked against a cotton warp. The grey green is laid in as a flatter, denser yarn than the jute around it, so the bands change the texture as well as the colour. It is supplied as a cover.

A 50cm square is the size a sofa corner and the head of a bed both take. The ground stays a natural jute tone and the woven bands carry the colour, so the cover brings autumn tones into a room without a pattern that has to be worked around. Jute is hardwearing, which is what lets it take being leaned on rather than only looked at, so it holds up on a sofa, a window seat or a bench.

The fabric is jute with cotton. Jute is completely biodegradable and recyclable, it grows quickly, and it finishes soft while staying hardwearing. The Zairya range also holds a 60 x 40cm cover in the same colourway, both shapes again in a sea foam colourway, and a rug, an armchair and a tall pouf.
