Description

The Yuyun S/5L is a woven pendant light built as a tall column of five cotton tiers, stacked one above another on a slim central stem. Each tier is a shallow, angled shade of beige cotton thread over a frame of aluminium and steel, in a Satin Beige & Beige Thread finish, and the light glows softly through the open weave. It is 108cm tall and 42cm across, and hangs at a drop of up to 200cm. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change: 36W giving 1200lm at 2400K, a very warm white, with a CRI of 90, so wood, fabric and skin look natural beneath it.

Tall and narrow, this pendant light suits a dining room, hung over the table, or a living room, where a column of warm light gives a seating area a soft focus. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. The pendant comes without its canopy and has no canopy of its own, so you also need a Yuyun power-supply canopy with its 24V driver, sold separately. The canopy holds the driver, which takes the mains supply and feeds the pendant at 24V DC; without it, the pendant will not light. We suggest ordering the two together so you have everything your electrician needs.

The frame is aluminium and steel, and the cotton thread is wound into an open lattice on each tier, so the light falls through in fine lines. It is a Class III fitting, made to run from a 24V DC supply rather than straight from the mains. It is powered from the mains, wired in by an electrician, through the 24V DC driver in its canopy, and as a system fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. Plan the drop around your table and ceiling height. The ceiling canopy in our photographs is not included.
