Description

This is a round Christmas rug in woven cotton, 110cm across, made to lie under the tree. The fabric is 95% cotton and 5% other fibre. Its cream ground is printed with a slender pine garland that runs in points around a plain centre. Small Christmas motifs hang along the garland: hearts, candy canes, drums, horns and checked woven hearts, with a fine border running close to the edge. The look is traditional and gentle, so it sits happily under a tree dressed in almost any scheme.

At 110cm across it gives a tree stand or basket a plain centre to sit on, with room around it for wrapped presents. It also covers the floor where a bare stand would otherwise show. Through December it belongs in the living room, a hallway or wherever the tree goes. Once the tree is down, it can stay out as a seasonal rug beside a sofa or an armchair until the decorations are packed away. It suits anyone who keeps a traditional Christmas, and the little drums and candy canes give children something to spot at the edge.
