Description

The Ypsilon LED wall light is a slim, sculptural piece in a Brushed Bronze finish. A narrow blade rises at an angle from a tall rectangular base block fixed to the wall. It stands 61cm tall. The base block is 20.5cm tall and 3cm wide, and the light projects 14cm from the wall. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 13W and gives 1046 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, with a CRI of 90, which means skin tones, timber and fabrics keep their true colour under it.

We think the Ypsilon suits a living room, a dining room or a bedroom, where its tall, upright line reads as much like a piece of wall art as a light. A pair either side of a bed or a sideboard works well, and a single one gives a quiet accent to a bare stretch of wall. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. The light is not dimmable, so it runs at its full output from a standard wall switch rather than a dimmer. Its warm white light is easy to live with in rooms you use in the evening.

Its form is pared back to two parts: a single slim blade and a narrow base block, both in Brushed Bronze. The brushed, warm tone sits comfortably with natural wood, linen and stone, and holds its own against deeper painted walls. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in to the mains by an electrician; it is for a qualified electrician to install. Because the LED is integrated, there are no bulbs to replace. At 14cm deep it keeps close to the wall, so it fits over a bedside table or beside a sideboard without crowding the space.
