Description

A set of four highball glasses, each 14cm tall and 7.5cm across, holding 500ml. The sides are straight and the walls are hammered all over into shallow irregular facets, so the surface breaks the light into small flat planes instead of reading as a smooth cylinder. The colour is a pale dusty terracotta carried in the glass itself, deeper where the wall thickens towards the base and almost clear at the rim.

At 500ml these are made for a long drink over ice, a highball or a tall cocktail, rather than a short measure. They are dishwasher safe and food safe.

The glass is recycled, crushed and melted down before it is hand blown and then hammered with traditional tools, which is why the facets fall differently on every glass. The colour is never sprayed on: it is carried in the glass itself, which is what keeps it food safe. Yala makes the same highball in clear and in sage green, and the range runs to tumblers, wine glasses, gin glasses and champagne glasses.
