Description
A set of four glass tumblers, each 9cm tall and 8cm across, with a hammered surface worked over the whole wall of the glass. The sides run almost straight and open very slightly towards the rim, and the base is left thick and heavy. The colour is a warm dusty terracotta that sits in the glass itself rather than on the surface, so it reads deeper where the wall thickens towards the foot and lighter across the hammered dimples.
Each tumbler holds 325ml, which makes it a short glass for water, juice or a spirit over ice rather than a tall one for a long drink. Four cover a table laid for four. The hammered wall breaks the light into small points, so the glasses show up against a plain table setting, and the dusty terracotta mixes with the other Yala colours on the same table rather than matching them.
The glass is recycled, and the colour is embedded in it rather than sprayed on, which is what keeps it food safe. Each glass is mouth blown and then hammered with traditional tools, so the dimpling falls in a different pattern on every one. The tumbler is also made in clear, indigo and sage green.

Frequently Asked
How many tumblers come in a set?
Four.
How much does each one hold?
325ml. Each glass is 9cm tall and 8cm across.
Is the glass recycled?
Yes. Waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is mouth blown and hammered.
Are they dishwasher safe?
Yes.
How do I look after them?
Wash them after every use to stop staining, using a mild detergent, and do not leave them to soak. Handle them with care.
Will the four match?
Not exactly. The hammering is done by hand with traditional tools, so the pattern of dimples differs from glass to glass.
