Description

The Yala tumbler is a short, wide glass in a pale sage green, 9cm tall and 8cm across, and it comes in a set of four. The wall is worked all over with a shallow hammered dimpling that breaks the light into small facets, and the base is thick enough to give the glass some weight in the hand. The colour runs through the glass itself and pales where the wall thins.

Each glass holds 350ml, so it takes a full glass of water or juice with room above it, and the short, wide shape suits whisky as readily. Four come in a set, which lays a table for four in one colour. The Yala range is made in several colours and they can be mixed across a table.

The glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand-blown and hammered with traditional tools, so the dimpling falls differently on every glass. The colour is embedded in the glass rather than sprayed onto it.
