Yala Hammered Gin Glasses - Sage Green - Set of 2

A pair of gin glasses in pale sage green glass, each 18cm tall and 12cm across the bowl. The bowl is a deep balloon on a long slender stem with a flat disc foot, and its lower half is hammered into shallow dimples that break the light, while the band below the rim is left smooth. The colour sits in the glass rather than on it, so it holds the same depth wherever the wall thickens.

Each glass holds 700ml, which leaves room for ice and a long pour with space over the top. The bowl is wide across the mouth, which suits a long drink or a cocktail better than a short measure. At 18cm the pair stands well clear of anything else on the table.

The glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown and hammered with traditional tools, which is where the irregular dimpling comes from. The colour is never sprayed on: it is embedded in the glass, which is what keeps it food safe. No. Hand wash only, with a mild detergent, and do not leave them to soak.

Not exactly. Each glass is blown and hammered by hand, so the dimpling and the thickness of the wall differ from one to the next.
