Yala Hammered Gin Glasses - Dusty Terracotta - Set of 2

A pair of gin glasses in dusty terracotta glass, each 18cm tall and 12cm across. The bowl is a deep balloon that turns back in at the lip, carried on a plain tapered stem and a flared disc foot. The bowl is hammered all over, so the wall is covered in shallow dimples that catch the light in points rather than returning it flat, while the stem and foot are left smooth. The colour is soft and sits somewhere between pink and clay, deepening where the glass thickens at the foot.

Each glass holds 700ml, so a measure, a long mixer and a full load of ice still sit below the lip, and the width of the bowl leaves room for a garnish to stand rather than lie flat. At 18cm tall these take more height on a table than a tumbler. Two glasses come in a set.

The glass is recycled and blown by hand, then worked with traditional tools to raise the hammered surface, so no two bowls carry the same pattern of dimples. The colour is embedded in the glass rather than sprayed on the outside, which keeps it food safe and keeps the tone even through the thickness of the wall. Is the colour painted on?

No. It is embedded in the glass itself rather than sprayed onto the surface, which is what makes it food safe and what keeps the tone even where the wall thickens.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. Waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is blown.

Can they go in the dishwasher?

No. These are handwash only, with a mild detergent and no soaking, and the care advice is to wash them after each use so the colour does not stain.
