The Wychford nine light pendant sets concave clear glass shades on a brushed warm brass frame 610mm across, with an overall height that adjusts from 490mm to 1865mm. Nine lamps over that drop give a chandelier style fitting with real presence, and the extra height range is what separates it from the six light version. Nine E14 lampholders take 6W LED bulbs, and the pendant is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a matched dimmer switch. It weighs 10.3kg, so the ceiling fixing must be sound, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The long drop makes this a natural choice for a stairwell or a double height hall, where it can be seen from two levels and the nine lamps read as a column of light. Over a dining table it can be shortened right down to 490mm for a normal ceiling. Clear glass gives a brighter sparkle than opal or frosted, so we would fit a dimmer and take the level down after dinner. Brushed warm brass keeps the tone soft, which stops a fitting of this size from feeling hard against pale walls.

The frame, ceiling plate and holders are metal in brushed warm brass, brushed so the finish stays even under nine bulbs, and every shade is concave clear glass curving in towards the lamp. Wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once, since clear glass shows dust and water spots readily, and dust the brass with a dry soft cloth only. At 10.3kg it should be fixed into a joist or a proper ceiling anchor. The Wychford range also includes a six light pendant and a two light wall light in the same concave glass.
