Description

The Wychford is a six light chandelier style pendant in brushed warm brass, hung with concave clear glass shades that pull the light inwards and hold a bright core at the centre of each one. The frame measures 610mm across and the overall height adjusts from 490mm up to 1660mm, so it can sit close in a normal room or drop into a stairwell. Six E14 lampholders take 6W LED bulbs, and the fitting is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a matched dimmer switch. It weighs 10.7kg, so the ceiling fixing needs to be sound, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Clear glass gives a brighter, sparklier light than opal, which suits a dining room, a hallway with height, or a landing where the fitting is seen from below and beside. We would hang it centrally over a table and use the dimmer to take the edge off clear glass in the evening. Brushed warm brass is a softer, deeper gold than polished brass, and it sits well with cream, clay and deep blue walls. The wide height adjustment means it can work in a standard room or in a double height space.

The frame, ceiling plate and lamp holders are metal in brushed warm brass, and each shade is concave clear glass, curving inwards towards the lamp it holds. Wash marks off the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away, since clear glass shows dust sooner than frosted, and keep the brass to a dry soft cloth. It is a Class 2 fitting, so no earth is needed, but at 10.7kg it should go into a joist or a proper fixing.
