Description

The Whiteberry Lantern is a modern wall light with a ribbed opal glass shade, a cylinder softly rounded at the top and bottom, set at the head of a slim iron stem. The shade is blown glass with fine vertical ribs running its full height, and the opal finish diffuses the lamp inside, so the glass glows evenly rather than showing a bright point of light. The fitting stands 58.5cm tall, and the cylindrical shade is 20cm tall and 15cm across. It takes one E27 lamp, the common large screw cap, which opens up a wide choice of bulb shapes, brightness and colour temperature.

As a wall light it sits well beside a bed, along a hallway or landing, either side of a dressing table mirror, or flanking a sofa or fireplace in a living room. The tall, narrow line suits a slim stretch of wall, and a pair either side of a bed or a doorway gives a balanced look. The opal glass softens the light, so it suits gentle ambient lighting. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It runs on 220-240V mains and is a switched fitting, turned on and off rather than dimmed, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install.

The frame is iron, finished in matt black, from the round wall plate and short arm to the long stem, which runs on beneath the arm so the fitting reads as one slender black line on the wall. A black holder at the top of the stem cradles the blown glass shade. It carries a 3 year guarantee.
