Description

This modern pendant light from our Whiteberry range has two rounded white ribbed glass shades stacked one above the other, with a gold collar pinched between them and slim gold bands at the top and bottom. The glass is blown, and its fluted ribs run the full height of each shade, softening the light as it passes through. Inside sits an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit. It draws 10W and gives 600 lumens of warm 3000K light, spread through a full 360° so the whole shade glows. A CRI of 90 or more means colours, food and skin tones look true beneath it. It measures 42.5cm tall and 20cm across.

Hung on its own over a dining table, it gives a soft, even glow at the level where people sit and talk. Its slim, upright shape suits a hallway, a landing or a spot beside the bed, where a wide shade would crowd the room. Two or three in a row along a long table look considered without feeling heavy, and the warm gold keeps it friendly rather than formal. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only: dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and halls.

The fittings are iron in a gold finish, the shade is blown glass, and it hangs on a 2m textile cable from a 12cm ceiling canopy. It runs on 220-240V mains, is for a qualified electrician to install, and carries a 5 year guarantee. Because the light spreads all round, the ribbed glass glows evenly from every side, so it looks as good from across the room as it does from beneath. For styling, the gold sits beautifully against white, cream or sage walls and alongside oak, linen and brushed brass. Hang it low enough over a table that the glass sits just above eye level when you are seated.
