Description

Our Whiteberry ceiling light is made of two ribbed blown-glass shades stacked one above the other, pinched at the waist by a matt black iron collar, with a matt black canopy at the top and a matt black ring at the base. The white glass is ribbed from top to bottom, which gives the fitting a gentle texture whether it is lit or switched off. It is 45cm tall and 20cm across, on a 12cm canopy. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit: 10W gives 600 lumens at 3000K, a warm white, and the 360° beam angle spreads that light all the way round rather than only straight down.

It fits flush to the ceiling, with no stem, yet at 45cm tall it has the presence of a pendant, so it is at home in a room with a little height: a bedroom, a living room, a hallway or a dining area, where it can sit over the table. It suits anyone who wants a modern ceiling light with real shape. Its colour rendering index of 90 or more means fabrics, wood and food look true to their colour beneath it. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is not dimmable, so it works from a standard on-off wall switch rather than a dimmer.

The canopy, collar and base ring are iron in a matt black finish, and the ribs run the full height of both blown-glass shades so the two read as one piece. It carries a 5 year guarantee, and as a mains fitting running at 220-240V it is for a qualified electrician to install. For styling, we like the matt black to pick up black picture frames or door handles in the same room, with pale walls so the white ribbed glass stands out.
