Description

A soft rubber washer, white, supplied in a pack of five. It is a flat, thin part with a generous face and a shallow section, the sort of thing that costs very little and matters a great deal when it is the one piece missing. Rubber gives slightly under pressure instead of sitting hard, so it beds in and takes up the gap where two rigid components meet. It is not decorative and makes no attempt to be.

This is a spares drawer item. Anyone who works on light fittings, or who has a shade and a lampholder that do not quite sit together as they should, will find a use for it sooner or later. It cushions, it keeps painted and plated finishes from being marked by a hard edge, and it stops a loose part chattering when something is knocked. We keep them in because customers ask for them far more often than you would expect, usually when a fitting is already in pieces on the kitchen table.

Rubber right through, so the white is the material itself rather than a coat applied over the top, and there is nothing to chip or flake off. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth and dry off; keep them away from oil, grease and strong solvents, which stiffen rubber over time, and they will stay supple in the pack until wanted. It carries a one year warranty. We would add these to an order alongside the rest of the Additions range, since the lampholders, converters, cable grips and hook plates all come from the same set of small parts and one order saves placing a second.
