Viti Glass Baubles - Gold - Set of 4

Four glass baubles, each 8cm and shaped as an oval rather than a sphere, drawn in a little under the cap and rounded out at the base. The surface is banded horizontally: a mottled silver cream across the shoulder, then a broad gold band where the colour pools brightest, then a pale stripe and a band of finer gold speckle towards the bottom. The bands blur into one another rather than meeting at a hard line. Each bauble is capped with a domed collar in a dark antique bronze, and a plain brass ring through the cap carries a flat pale ribbon knotted at the top.

At 8cm these are full sized baubles rather than small ones, so four of them will carry a branch on their own near the front of a tree. The ribbon is long enough to loop straight over a branch without a hook. They also go out of the tree altogether, piled into a shallow bowl on a table. They are for indoor use.

The glass is recycled: waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, crushed, melted down and then mouth blown, and the blowing is what leaves the mottling irregular across every piece. Because that mottling is in the glass rather than painted onto it, no two baubles in a set carry the same pattern and the bands sit at different heights on each one. The caps and the rings are metal.

How do they hang?

Each bauble has a brass ring through its cap and a flat ribbon knotted through the ring, long enough to loop over a branch without a hook.

Will the four be the same?

No. The mottling comes out of the blowing, so the banding sits differently on every bauble and no two sets are alike.

How do I look after them?

Wipe away any built up dust with a dry soft cloth and handle them with care. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which may damage the finish. They are for indoor use only.
