Vista Stoneware Bowls Set of 4 - Multi

This is a set of four round stoneware bowls, each a different width and all the same height: 12cm, 14cm, 16cm and 18cm across, and 6cm tall. Every bowl carries its own glossy colour inside, finished with a fine contrasting line at the rim, while the outside stays plain and lightly speckled. Laid out together, the four make a multicoloured table that still looks considered, because the shared plain outside ties the different interiors together. Stoneware is fired at high temperatures, which makes it dense and hard-wearing for everyday meals.

With the widths stepping from 12cm to 18cm, each bowl finds a natural job. The smallest suits dips, olives, nuts or a scoop of ice cream; the middle two take yoghurt, fruit or a side of rice; the widest, at 18cm across, holds a breakfast cereal, a noodle supper or a salad for one. Their open, rounded shape shows off the food, so they work as well for sharing dishes in the middle of a kitchen table as for a relaxed dinner with friends. They suit a first home, a busy family breakfast table, or anyone who likes a bit of colour at mealtimes.

The finish is a reactive glaze. A reactive glaze moves and pools as it fires, so the colour settles a little differently on every piece and no two bowls come out exactly alike. All four go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven, so you can warm leftovers, bake a small crumble or reheat soup in the same bowl in which you serve it, then put it straight into the dishwasher afterwards. For the table, we like to mix the four bowls rather than line them in order of size, setting the widest in the centre for sharing and passing the smaller ones round for sides and sauces.
