Description

Six glass baubles in the shape of a cut gem, each 8cm across. A ridge runs round the widest point, and flat facets climb from it to a fluted brass cap and fall away from it to a point below. The surface is antiqued mercury glass, blue and steel grey broken by patches of chalky white, with darker speckling caught in the angles. A narrow tan strap runs through a metal ring at the top of each.

Six at 8cm will dress a small tree on their own or spread across a larger one. At this size they sit as well on an inner branch as on an outer one. They are also the size that works on a garland over a door or along a mantel. Each strap is long enough to loop over a branch and tie.

The glass is recycled: waste glass is washed, crushed and melted down before it is blown by hand into a mould, which is what sets the facets. The mottling is layered on afterwards by hand, so the tone runs bluer on some and greyer on others and the six do not match. The Vikula range also runs a set of three at 10cm.
