The Vellmere pendant sets a clear glass shade against a bright nickel finish, so the fitting reads as open and light rather than heavy overhead. The shade measures 210mm across and the drop adjusts from 470mm to 1575mm, which lets you set the hanging height to suit the room instead of working around a fixed length. It takes one E27 screw fit lamp rated at 10W, and because the glass is clear the lamp stays on show, so a filament style LED is worth choosing. Wired to a compatible dimmer switch and fitted with a dimmable lamp, it dims down without fuss.

At this size the Vellmere suits a run of two or three over a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, and it works on its own above a hallway table, a landing or a small dining spot. Clear glass throws light sideways as well as down, so you get a bright, sparkling spread rather than a soft pool, which helps in rooms that need working light as much as atmosphere. We think it suits anyone after a plain contemporary ceiling light that will sit quietly with furniture already in place, and the long adjustable drop keeps it usable under lower ceilings too.

For care, isolate the power and let the lamp cool, then dust the glass with a soft dry cloth and wipe the metal with a barely damp one, keeping abrasive creams and polish sprays away from the finish. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and needs an earthed supply at the ceiling.
