Description

The Velas is a 100cm LED island suspension light built around a continuous wave-form diffuser made from micro-printed methacrylate, suspended from a matte gold metal frame and rectangular ceiling canopy. An integrated 21W LED strip inside the diffuser produces 3000K warm white light that passes through the methacrylate, creating an even glow along the full 100cm length without visible hotspots or individual LED points.

Designed for installation above dining tables and kitchen islands, the Velas is supplied with adjustable suspension cables that allow the fitting to be set anywhere between 65cm and 150cm drop during installation. For a 2.4m ceiling height, the typical installation drop is 70-80cm above the table surface, positioning the light at eye level when seated. The 100cm length suits tables between 160-220cm long or kitchen islands of similar dimension, providing distributed task and ambient light across the full surface.

The methacrylate diffuser curves in a continuous ribbon shape, forming five overlapping waves along its length. Each wave section sits inside the matte gold frame, which holds the diffuser in place while concealing the LED strip and driver electronics. The micro-printed finish on the methacrylate breaks up the light transmission evenly, preventing harsh glare while retaining the softness of the curved form. The matte gold finish has a low-sheen surface that reduces reflections under daylight and pairs with both warm-toned and neutral interiors. At 2.48kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixings — gravity toggle fittings are supplied for plasterboard ceilings.

The integrated 21W LED runs on mains voltage without requiring a separate driver accessible to the user. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model — please contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm.

What table length does the 100cm width suit?

The Velas works best above dining tables between 160-220cm long or kitchen islands of similar dimension. For shorter tables under 160cm, the light may overhang the ends; for tables longer than 220cm, two Velas fittings in tandem provide better coverage.

How is the drop height adjusted?

The suspension cables are adjustable between 65cm and 150cm during installation. Once set and the canopy fixed to the ceiling, the drop height cannot be changed without removing the canopy and re-routing the cables.

What ceiling fixings are needed?

The fitting weighs 2.48kg and requires secure fixings. Gravity toggle fittings are supplied for plasterboard ceilings. For solid ceilings, standard rawlplugs and screws rated for the weight are suitable.
