Description

The Varuna is a clear glass bell on a turned mango wood collar. The glass flares from a narrow neck to a wide rim 22.8cm across and is open underneath, and it is clear enough that the bulb inside is fully in view. Above it the wood is turned into a stepped collar, pale and showing its grain, with a brass ring above that and a black fabric flex running up to a brass ceiling rose. It stands 34.5cm tall.

The wood and the glass do different jobs. The glass sends light down and out in every direction; the solid wood collar caps the top, so nothing goes straight up and the ceiling stays dark. Hung in a line over a kitchen island, or on its own over a dining table, it puts the light on the surface and keeps it there. It takes one E27 bulb up to 25W, it is dimmable, the flex runs 1.3m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The collar is mango wood, turned and hand carved, so the grain and the tone differ from one collar to the next. The shade is glass and the ring and ceiling rose are brass. Bulbs are not included.
