Description

The Varas is an 82cm linear bar pendant mounting 14 individual cylindrical LED lights suspended at staggered heights from a rectangular matt black ceiling plate. Each cylinder contains an integrated LED behind an opal acrylic diffuser, with seven cylinders finished in matt black and seven in glossy gold. The combined 70W output at 3000K delivers warm directional downlight across a total drop adjustable between 50cm and 300cm.

Designed for high-ceiling spaces including double-height hallways, stairwells, dining rooms with 3m+ ceilings, and open-plan living areas, the Varas uses the adjustable cable drops to create a cascading rhythm of light points. The remote control allows dimming from full brightness to low ambient without needing wall switches, making it practical for spaces where the ceiling height makes physical access difficult. The rectangular ceiling plate measures 82cm x 25cm and requires a ceiling rose or junction box capable of supporting 11.2kg.

The two-tone finish pairs matt black aluminium cylinders with glossy gold cylinders in an alternating pattern, giving visual texture when the pendant is viewed from below. Each opal diffuser softens the LED source to reduce glare while maintaining downward throw. The 3000K colour temperature sits in the warm white range, making the Varas suited to residential interiors where cooler LEDs would feel clinical. The Class 1 electrical rating requires an earth connection during installation.

Is the Varas dimmable?

Yes. The integrated LEDs are dimmable via the included remote control, allowing full-range dimming without needing a wall-mounted dimmer switch. This is particularly useful in high-ceiling installations where wall switches are impractical.

What ceiling height is needed?

The pendant works in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.7m and 6m. The minimum 50cm drop suits standard ceiling heights when the pendant is centred over a table or landing, while the maximum 300cm drop allows the light to reach into double-height spaces without the ceiling plate dominating the view from below.

How are the cable lengths adjusted?

Each of the 14 pendant cables is individually adjustable during installation, allowing the installer to create a staggered cascade effect or to set all cylinders at similar heights depending on the space. The adjustment mechanism is detailed in the assembly instruction PDF linked in the Downloads tab.

What fixing is required for the 11.2kg weight?

The ceiling plate must be fixed to a secure ceiling rose, junction box or structural support capable of carrying at least 11.2kg. In plasterboard ceilings this typically requires fixing directly to a joist or installing a spreader plate across multiple joists. Consult a qualified electrician if uncertain about ceiling load capacity.
