Valeska Ribbed Recycled Glass Soap Dish - Grey Smoke

The Valeska is a soap dish mouth blown from recycled glass, a shallow oblong with rounded ends and a plain flat rim. The outer wall is ribbed in close vertical flutes that run from the base up to the rim and stop square against it, while the inside is left smooth. The glass is a smoky grey that goes blue where it thickens through the ribs and almost clear across the floor of the dish, so a bar sitting in it shows through from underneath.

It takes a standard bar of soap lying flat, and it sits beside a basin, on the edge of a bath or on a shelf. The floor of the dish is solid, with no drainage holes, so water gathers in it and wants tipping out. The ribbing runs on the outside only, which leaves the inside plain under the soap.

The glass is recycled and every dish is mouth blown, so the wall thickness varies a little and the ribs are not perfectly even from one dish to the next. The Valeska range also holds a soap dispenser and a storage pot in the same smoky glass. Soap is not included.

What is it for?

A bar of soap. It is a dish rather than a dispenser; the Valeska soap dispenser is a separate listing.

Does it have drainage holes?

No. The floor is solid, so water gathers in it and needs tipping out.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes, and every dish is mouth blown, so no two are quite alike.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

Yes.

How should I look after it?

Use a mild detergent and do not leave it to soak. Handle it carefully, as blown glass chips.
