Description
Vadim is a little Christmas train led by a nutcracker, made from MDF, beech and iron and decorated in a multicoloured mix of festive motifs. Five wagons sit on wheels and are joined by small hooks. At the back is a bauble balanced on a stack of wrapped presents, then two striped drums either side of a snow-tipped tree with a star on top, and at the front a reindeer wearing a scarf. The nutcracker stands on his own base ahead of them, with a sack in one hand and the reindeer's lead in the other. The piece measures 51cm long, 6cm wide and 19cm tall, and it weighs 0.64KG.
At 6cm wide, it fits a narrow shelf, a mantelpiece or a windowsill where a wider arrangement would overhang. Its 51cm length lets it run along a sideboard or down the centre of the Christmas table as a low centrepiece that keeps sight lines clear across the room. It suits a hallway console, a bookcase in the living room or the dresser in a kitchen, anywhere you want a cheerful scene at eye level through December. At 0.64KG it is light enough to move from one spot to another as your decorating plans change. It makes a good gift for anyone who brings out the nutcrackers every year, or for a household that likes a traditional Christmas with a touch of humour.
Beech is a hard, close-grained wood, and MDF is a dense, smooth board that takes decoration evenly. Each wagon is a separate piece on its own wheels, linked to the next by a small hook. To style it, give the train a clear run of shelf with a sprig of greenery or pine cones behind it, and let the nutcracker take the lead at one end. The styling props shown are not included.
