Description

The Ulani is a desk lamp in the banker style: a wide shallow dome of ribbed clear glass held between two brass ball pivots on a twin stem yoke, rising from a turned brass column on a round stepped foot. The ribbing runs across the dome and breaks the light as it leaves. The shade tilts on the pivots, so the beam can be pushed forward over a page or dropped straight down. It stands 34.5cm tall and reaches 29cm front to back.

The shade is clear rather than opaque, so the bulb is visible through it and the light spreads to the sides as well as down onto the desk. That places it where the lamp is looked at as much as worked under: a desk against a wall, a hall table, a shelf beside books. An inline rocker switch sits on the rust coloured braided flex, which runs 3.5m to a UK or EU plug. It takes one E14 bulb up to 40W and is rated IP20.

The frame and the foot are brass over metal and the shade is glass. The glass is pressed with its ribs and then finished by hand, so the pattern is not identical between lamps. Bulbs are not included.
