Description

The Schuller Type B is a 200W dimmer module designed to be fitted inside decorative light fittings that use G9 LED bulbs or LED drivers. The unit measures 60mm × 40mm × 20mm and weighs 60g, allowing it to be concealed within most pendant and chandelier canopies without requiring additional space. Control is via a separate radio frequency remote (sold separately), not a wall-mounted dimmer switch.

The module is wired inline between the mains supply and the LED driver or bulb holder during light installation. Once fitted, the dimmer responds to commands from the paired remote control, which can be wall-mounted or handheld. This setup suits installations where running cable to a wall dimmer is impractical, or where wireless control is preferred for multi-zone lighting without additional wiring.

The 200W rating handles most domestic LED installations — for example, twenty 10W G9 LED bulbs or four 50W LED drivers. The unit operates on both 110V and 220V supplies, making it compatible with standard UK 230V mains and export installations. The black ABS casing carries CE certification and is heat-resistant to normal LED driver operating temperatures.

Where is the dimmer fitted?

The dimmer module is fitted inside the light fitting itself, typically within the ceiling canopy or pendant housing. It connects inline between the mains cable and the LED driver or bulb holders. This is not a wall-mounted dimmer switch.

What LED bulbs and drivers does it work with?

The Type B is designed for G9 LED bulbs and most LED drivers up to a combined 200W load. Not all LED bulbs are dimmable — check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before pairing with this module.

Can it be fitted by a homeowner?

The dimmer must be wired into the mains supply of the light fitting. In the UK, this work must be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with Part P Building Regulations unless the homeowner is themselves competent and the installation meets current wiring regulations.
