Description

A cushion cover 60cm wide and 40cm high, flat woven in wool and cotton on an undyed ground. The pattern runs in vertical bands across the width: two raised loop bands at one side, one in grey and cream and one in ochre and cream, then a solid grey stripe, then a band carrying small ochre stepped motifs. A large ochre stepped diamond fills the open field to the right of centre, with a raised grey and cream loop diamond set inside it. The motifs are woven in rather than printed.

At 60 by 40cm this is a long cushion rather than a square one, so it goes at the small of the back in the corner of a sofa, or across the head of a bed in front of the pillows. The raised loop bands stand proud of the flat weave, so the face is uneven under the hand rather than smooth. A square cover is made in the same range.

The cover is wool and cotton. The threads are mustard, natural and black, and the loop bands are worked in the same yarns as the flat ground. An inner is not included. Tussi Sia is also made in dusty pink, and the range runs to two square designs in the same colours.
