Description

A cushion cover 50cm square, handwoven in wool and banded straight across: a grey band at the top, a wide blush band through the middle carrying a single row of chevrons, and an ochre band along the bottom worked in a fine check. The weave is flat and ribbed, the weft standing proud in close ridges, so the surface has a grain that runs side to side. The bands meet without a border, each one running edge to edge.

At 50cm square it sits on a sofa or a bed, and two of them side by side line their bands up across a seat. The banding runs horizontally, so the cover reads one way stood up against a sofa back and another laid flat. A pair on a cream or neutral sofa puts the ochre band where it carries across the room. The chevrons sit in the blush band only, one row of them, so the pattern is quiet at a distance and shows close to.

The cover is woven on a traditional Indian handloom, so the density of the weave and the exact width of each band differ a little from one cover to the next. This ochre is also made as a 60 by 40cm cover. This listing is for the cover.
